The story of the house so far.

We are building a house.
That is to say that we are not actually, personally building it - we have some rathere excellent builders doing that.

We had plans drawn up by our friend Pete ages ago and in fact they were approved by council a year ago, but in true Carrad fashion we got distracted and retired (some of us), sold up, packed up etc etc.
And the builders were busy until the end of last year so it all worked in quite well really.

Now they are moving apace as they have some jobs coming up in February and want to get us finished as soon as poss, though we don't really know when that will be.

Our (house) plans

Many people have been asking about our house plans.
So here is the designer's impression of what our house will look like.

It is just a simple 2 bedroom home, one of the bedrooms will be my workroom.
The bathroom is a bit different now, the wall doesn't stick out and the bathroom is a bit smaller.
It is a solar passive design, with large windows on the northern side. The windows will slide to allow the outside and inside to merge.
The kitchen windows open onto a terrace for alfresco dining!

There is also a large garage and carport to house our caravan.
The water tanks in between the house and garage are an architectural feature.

We'll have solar panels and solar hot water.

The plans look like this -

All being well building will start later this year when we get back from our BIG TRIP.
